Our same lecture came. Each one of us sat on their own chairs, we both were looking silently at each other, then finally, we dropped that light smile. After half an hour I was following up, writing down what the professor was explaining, then I felt something from my left side. I saw you staring, putting your left hand under your chin, drenched as if you were in another world.
I looked behind me, everyone was looking at the professor. I looked again at you, and saw you staring deeply at me. I turned away my eyes, looking again at the professor, trying to write down. But I couldn’t, I looked again at you. You fixed your head straight towards me. I looked for a while at you, your eyes were looking differently, you were looking at me in such a beautiful way, that I couldn’t ignore. Few moments later, I turned my eyes away and worked on never looking at you till the end of the lecture.
When the lecture ended, I found you grabbing your bag, coming towards me. I grabbed my stuff as fast as I could, and left the lecture from the upped door of the hall. I started running away from you, I didn’t know why, but something deep inside me told me to do so. I hid behind a wall, then saw you running looking everywhere, but you couldn’t find me.
Then, I pulled up my car keys, missing my last two lectures, and went back home.

Next day we saw each other there. We felt like we needed to ask each other, as we used to. Maybe how we were, maybe what our plans would’ve been for that day. And maybe if we could’ve gone again together, running again from life for a few hours. We both knew that each one of us wanted to talk. Everyone around was looking at us, but we were only looking at each other, like we were lost in a film scene.
We stepped closer, we were feeling like we’ve never talked before, like we both were trying to speak to each other like it was the first time. We used to be friends, we used to be so close, we used to be different than everyone. But since last night’s movie, something different suddenly happened to both of us; and exactly, after that silent look that you had over me when we stopped laughing. Last night we both were angry over the detentions, over our best friend’s, over everything, but not over each other. We were so good last night, how we both cried over the character, and later how we both laughed over each other, but that look was different.
We thought last night’s movie would make us good, and we actually are good today, but for some reason we can’t speak to each other. We stepped closer while everyone was running to catch up on their lecture. And suddenly, we turned our faces away and stopped staring, and each one went to their own lecture. Just like that.

We started wearing our sleep pajamas, spraying our light mist over us, putting our heads over our pillows, keeping our eyes open, looking at the moon light, thinking of what happened on that tough day. Then we started asking deep inside; “Are we that much bad? Were we so rude and mean today? Was our reaction right? Was it a little bit over? Did we break someone’s heart? Were we supposed to say sorry and apologize?”
We sighed, then we remembered each other, we remembered how we both cried over that movie character. We smiled for a while because we realized that we both are the same as each other at some point. We picked up our phones to ask each other if we were still awake; opened up the conversation, wanted to write something. But suddenly we gave up, putting away our phones, hugging our small teddy bear, closing our eyes, and simply ignoring everything.

I know that it wasn’t real and it was just an hour, maybe two, or maybe three, but these few hours will always be the best hours in my entire life. We were together, spending time, taking the break we needed from life, sitting and crying over our favorite character that died at the end of the movie. Then we looked at each other and started laughing like idiots. And after a few seconds we calmed down realizing that the break was over, and each one of us needed to go back to their own real life.
We left, driving our car away late at night, going back home. Remembering our heavy project that needs to be done after two days. And the trouble we got into with the detention from our professor. And the fight we had with our best friend. Remembering how we went back from college angry that day, how we started hitting everything, and throwing out the entire stuff on the bedroom floor.
We stopped the car for a while, raising our heads up, taking a deep breath, and saying to ourselves, “Everything will pass, everything will be alright. Please be patient.”
