Land One

“Note: This is a full written story, and what you will be reading now in Land One, is a part of Chapter One of the story.”

When we arrived. I got off the airplane, leaving the airport, and when I stepped into the lights’ town, I was surprised. The town was loud, noisy; the people in it were dancing, singing and laughing loudly. I was looking at the sky, the music sounds were very high, the echoes were mounting in the quiet sky. Suddenly someone stood in front of me while I was looking at the sky, saying, “Hello pretty!” I looked at him, “Hello.” “Would you like to have a drink?” He asked. “No thank you, I don’t want to drink anything!” We both were shouting, because the music was very loud. “Are you a tourist?” He asked. I put my left hand on my left ear, closing it, trying to hear what he said, “Sorry?” “I said, are you a tourist?” “Yes.” I answered. “Then follow me.” “Where?” I asked. He grabbed my hand, taking me to a lighting table, saying, “Sit here.” Then he left. “But where…?!” I wanted to continue asking, but the music was very loud, so I didn’t.

I looked at the people who were on my right side; they were dancing on the dance floor, laughing and drinking. Then the same person shouted from the other side, “Drink this.” Then he sat on the other chair at my table, smiling. I looked at him with no words, then he said, “This is our special drink for all the new tourists that come to our town.” I smiled, saying, “Ahh, thank you, but I don’t drink alcohol.” He started laughing, then said, “Don’t worry there is no alcohol in it, we don’t drink alcohol here, it’s just a colored juice with a special fruit flavor.” I smiled at him, he did too. Then he asked, “Do you want to dance?” “No thanks, I actually have to go.” I said. “To where?” “Deaghostd Island.” “I can’t hear you! Where to, did you say?” He approached to hear me clearer, then I approached too, saying, “To Deaghostd Island.” Suddenly he slowly laid back to his chair, and his smile started to disappear. He stared at me in a scary way with no words for a couple seconds, then he left quickly. “Hey, you... Wait… Where are you going?!” I said while looking at him leaving, but he didn’t answer and went away without looking back. I turned my face and said to myself, “Weird!” I stood up, then went to the beach, stepping away from that noise.

When I arrived, I found a lot of boats. “Hello.” I said to an old man standing beside one of the wooden boats. “Hello.” “My name is Parime, I’m from Parime’s travel and tourism company.” “Welcome darling, how can I help you?” “I actually want to go to Deaghostd Island, and I have no idea about which boat I have to ride!” The old man suddenly panicked saying, “What?! No!” “Sorry?!” I asked. “It’s… It’s closed.” The old man said with a trembling voice. “Closed?!” I shrugged. I looked at the other boats then continued, “But the people are still riding the boats!” Then he nervously said, “I told you it’s closed. I don’t have any trips to that island.” “But listen I…” “Please… I don’t have any trip, just leave, it’s a remote island and no one can take you there at this time.” The old man said. “Okay, sorry!” I said, feeling so weird. I went back to where I was, thinking about the old man’s features, how they suddenly changed!

I stood away a little bit watching the old man, then looked at my wristwatch, it was 3:29 AM. Suddenly I heard a person shouting from a distance calling this old man, “Bro.” I looked at the old man. He left his place and went to talk to him. The boats had no one guarding them, I hurried over, taking that small wooden boat, then began sailing until I moved away. After I moved away, the old man noticed, heading back quickly to his place. He looked at me and began shouting, “You girl, come back here, you’ll die there, please come back.” I looked back at him paddling as fast as I could, so he wouldn’t be able to follow me. Then he whispered to himself saying, “You’re in danger, in a very big danger.” When he said this sentence to himself, I already left and started fading in front of his eyes, getting lost inside the darkness of the sea. It was the last time I saw the lights’ town in. At 3:29 AM.

While I was paddling, the clouds grew darker, everything started seeming so quiet, until the whole music sounds disappeared. I looked behind, I couldn’t find the lights’ town anymore, it disappeared, no lights, no sounds, not even the island, Deaghostd Island! All I was able to see at that time was that dark sky and the dark water. At that moment I took a deep breath and decided to look for the Island on the map, so I could paddle to it. I took out my phone from my pocket, there was no connection; no phone internet, and no calls. “Oh great!” I said to myself, putting my phone in my backpack. I started shivering, the weather started getting cooler. While I was putting my phone back, closing the bag, I started seeing a black shadow. I put on my backpack slowly, then the dark shadows started prevailing the place, all around the boat, and strange whispers began to appear. I started taking my breath quickly. I felt like a lot of cold hands were holding me, and pressing strongly, dragging me to an anonymous place. I wanted to scream, but some hand was like holding my vocal cords, preventing me from making any sound. At that moment I wasn’t even able to see the sky and the sea water, only darkness and nothing more. I tried to move my head, and my body parts, but to no avail. I felt as if all my strength had been taken away, leaving me unable to do the simplest things like blinking. Everything around me started to get cold, as if my body had frozen. Even my mind stopped working and all I could remember was that when I was in the lights’ town it was 3:29 AM. Other than this I neither remember or see anything.
